Fall invites reflection and rhythm. But it also brings dryness, scattered energy, and transitions that can overwhelm the body, especially during perimenopause. In Ayurveda, fall is ruled by vata dosha—air and space—often showing up as anxiety, poor digestion, and hormonal imbalance. This autumn workout is built to ground and stabilize. With an emphasis on slow, rhythmic strength, hip and core activation, and nervous system balance, it helps women navigate fall with more steadiness and resilience. Root down so you can rise strong!

Dumbbells, medicine ball, mat

How to Do It

This 30-minute fall sequence emphasizes stability, lower-body strength, and breath regulation, ideal for grounding vata and reducing mental and physical fatigue during seasonal transition. Do it two to three times per week to support nervous system health and hormone balance. Perform each exercise in a row, then repeat two to three times.

1. seated grounding breath

A fantastic starter to reduce anxiety and stabilize vata dosha. Perform for one minute.

Sit cross-legged on a mat. Inhale deeply for four counts, then exhale for six counts.

2. heel-elevated sumo squat

Targets the pelvic floor and roots the lower body. Do 10 to 12 reps.

Hold a medicine ball and stand with your feet wide and heels on weight plates. Inhale as you lower for four counts, then exhale as you extend your legs for one count. Repeat immediately.

3. reverse lunge to knee drive

Builds proprioception and internal focus. Perform 10 reps per leg.

Step one foot back and count to three as you bend both legs to lunge. As you return to standing, lift your back knee in front of you, driving it upward.

4. weighted dead bug

Strengthens deep core muscles and calms the mind. Do eight to 10 reps on each side.

Lie on your back holding a dumbbell in each hand over your shoulders and your legs bent and lifted. Lower your left arm and straighten your right leg for four counts. Slowly return to the start. Repeat, alternating sides.

5.bridge with breath

Simultaneously activates root energy and glutes. Do three reps.

Lie face-up on a mat. Lift your hips into Bridge pose, squeeze your glutes, and take five slow breaths. Lower and repeat.

6. child's pose with twist

A gentle spinal reset and detox support. Perform for one minute per side.

Kneel on the ground and lean forward to come into Child’s Pose. Reach both arms to one side, flexing through the waist, and hold.
